Principal Designer

Principal Designer

A principal designer is an organisation or individual appointed by the client to take the lead in a project’s design and planning stage when more than one contractor is involved.

If you are recognised as the Client under the CDM regulations, you have a legal duty to appoint a Principal Designer for your building works.

The Principal Designer role is crucial in ensuring health and safety within the construction industry under the Construction Design and Management Regulations (CDM15). Introduced in 2015, these regulations aim to improve health and safety in the construction sector by ensuring risks are managed effectively throughout a project’s lifecycle.

What we do
At Kelham Concept, we offer principal designers to help you coordinate health and safety during the pre-construction phase of your project. This includes planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating health and safety aspects of the design process.

What we offer:

Coordinating your project’s pre-construction phase, including planning, managing, monitoring, and coordinating health and safety.

Gathering and sharing all relevant information regarding health and safety risks with the project team.

Facilitating communication and cooperation between designers, contractors, and clients to ensure that health and safety considerations are integrated into the design from the outset.
